Is a Cosmic Caliber puppy the right fit for you?
We pride ourselves in producing truly versatile puppies that would be a great fit for most families. With that being said temperament can vary depending on the pairing. We are very transparent on the temperament of our parents and what we expect from their puppies. To be sure we know as much as possible about every individual puppy we have a professional trainer come and evaluate them. They do Volhard temperament testing as well as a combination of other temperament/guide/service dog testing. We then use that knowledge to carefully match each pup to the perfect family. The top reason puppies/dogs are returned or rehomed is due to them not being a good fit with their new family. Sending an active pup to a low energy household or visa versa is not going to pan out well.
We understand that gender and color/pattern is very important to most buyers and try our hardest to match according to their preferences but sometimes that is impossible. For that reason we cannot guarantee gender or color/pattern. Temperament will always be the top priority!

Looking for “just a pet”?
“I don’t need a show dog, just a pet”.
I hear this a lot from potential buyers and I would like to take a minute to explain why you should change your way of thinking. Our main goal at Cosmic Caliber is to produce amazing pets who also have the ability to be a sport dog, show dog, working dog etc.
It’s a common misconception that a show dog is not a pet. That couldn’t be further from the truth! My show dogs sleep in bed with me at night, go on vacations with me, play ball and get dirty just like any other dog. Showing doesn’t make them any less of a pet. Buying a “pet” from a show breeder just means your dog comes from a breeder that truly cares about the breed enough to prove their dogs in the ring. Most puppies out of a litter from parents who are show dogs are sold as pets. Only a select few pups in a litter go on to be show dogs.
Preserving a breed is hard! When you decide on a breed you choose that breed based on these 3 key traits:
Looks- Poodles are curly/fluffy and a low allergen/shedding breed. They can be groomed in a variety of trims based on your preference. And they come in so many colors and patterns!
Personality - Poodles are regal, yet goofy. They are great with kids and very social with strangers. They are active, but have a off switch.
Ability to perform a specific task-Poodles are versatile. A well bred Poodle can do most sports and jobs if you buy from a breeder who properly matches them to fit your needs.
These things aren’t important to all breeders. Breeding “cute” dogs with no other work put in will result in us losing the things we love so much about the Poodle breed.

Looking for a show/breeding prospect?
We are very active in showing and encourage all other breeders to compete as well. Showing is not only a fun way to bond with your dog, it is also the way we decide if our dogs are breeding quality. Becoming a Champion, Grand Champion or above is not a easy feat and should be celebrated. If you are interested in a show/breeding prospect we are open to discussing that further. We prefer to sell these prospects to established breeders but will take a chance on someone new to the sport if you are a good match.
We do have strict requirements when selling show prospects:
• If you are a established breeder your ethics must align with ours. You must health test, show, use a similar process to sell puppies (carefully match, have a contract/health guarantee etc) and not sell to large scale breeders or doodle/mix breeders.
• All show/breeding prospects must be a UKC GRCH or AKC (or) CKC CH at minimum before being bred.
• All show/breeding prospects must be fully health testing with a passing CHIC number, tested for Day Blindness and diversity tested before being bred.

Looking for a sport prospect?
We’ve produced quite a few pups with the drive to make a great sport prospect. Like I said before we pride ourselves in producing very versatile dogs. So far our dogs or puppies we’ve produced have competed, participated or trained in lure coursing, FastCAT, precision coursing, barn hunt, nose work, rally, agility, dock diving and weight pull. They are titled in a few and working on getting more titles now. I am personally working on getting mine titled in barn hunt, rally and weight pull this year. We’ve had a great time training so I think titling will be a breeze.
Looking for a service prospect?
We have produced quite a few pups with the correct temperament to be a potential service dog. We do not breed for service work but will place a pup as a potential service dog if it is a good match.
**Due to the significant increase in service dog requests I am currently reevaluating my protocols.**
As of right now I will only consider placing potential service dogs with handlers who have a working relationship with a professional trainer who has experience training for service work or handlers who have experience successfully training a service dog in the past. This decision was made due to the fact that success rate is much lower for dogs that are self trained. Service dogs that fail at their job are often washed and returned or rehomed. That is just not a risk I am willing to take. I want my pups to have a forever home when they leave me.
